October 23 2014 Caucasus Business and Development Network organised a day of environmental action in South Ossetia. Volunteers from schools, businesses, local government representatives and NGOs joined forces to cleanse the creek by the river, where locals go to relax and have picnics. They wore CBDN T-shirts, to raise awareness about the organisers of the initiative and the work of the network in promoting cooperation. Read more
On October 17, citizens of Kutaisi joined together to rid their town, streets, squares and parks of rubbish, in an initiative organised by Caucasus Business and Development Network. The day of action was coordinated and led by the Association of Peaceful and Business Caucasus, an active member of CBDN, with the support of International Alert.
The aim of the event was to highlight the damage done to our surroundings by lack of care for the environment, and to show that we are jointly responsible for improving the world which we all share. Careless littering of the town with plastic bottles, food wrappers and other materials pollutes vegetation and groundwater, leading to growing environmental degradation. This has a lasting negative effect on both the physical and psychological health of citizens. Read more

“Tastes and Flavours of the Caucasus”: Exhibition of Caucasus Brands
On 28 October, International Alert and the Caucasus Business and Development Network (CBDN) will co-host an exhibition in Abkhazia which explores how business initiatives can help to promote regional cooperation.
During the event, locals and guests will be invited to taste and comment on the Caucasus Brands, which include tea, honey, cheese and wine. These have all been produced as a result of the collaborative efforts of CBDN members and local businesses in the South Caucasus and Turkey (Kars).
Representatives from CBDN’s regional offices will also present the results of their work and share their achievements in promoting regional cooperation through initiatives in these different sectors. Visitors will also have the chance to learn more about CBDN’s work in supporting local businesses and facilitating dialogue and contact between business communities.

On 26 October, peacebuilding charity International Alert and the Caucasus Business and Development Network (CBDN) will host their annual International Festival of Tea and Honey to demonstrate how their work supporting local business initiatives is enabling greater regional cooperation.
The event, which is setting up on Shardeni Street, Sioni Square from 12.00 until 17.00, will take place as part of the traditional Tbilisoba celebrations. The public will be invited to taste Caucasus Brands products including tea, honey, cheese and wine, which have all been created through cooperation between CBDN members and local businesses. These products symbolise the friendship and coming together of Caucasian communities.
Representatives from CBDN regional offices will be present throughout the event to share the results of their work. They will speak about some fascinating topics including ‘cheese diplomacy’, the role of bees in peacebuilding, and how blends of teas and herbs can promote the peaceful transformation of conflicts.
